Team Leaders: Dr. Carolyn Eyles, P.Geo., Dr. Daniel Dick, Dr. Alexander Peace, P.Geo., Dr. Elli Papangelakis, Dr. Katie Maloney Our team at McMaster University is currently developing a series of GeoHikes, Urban GeoWalks, and GeoRoutes in the Hamilton/Niagara region. They are in the process of researching a GeoRoute that visits a collection of wineries in the Niagara Peninsula, to discuss how local geology affects vineyard growth and ultimately, the taste of the wine.

We have partnered with the NPAGG to further develop publicly accessible information about the geological history of the Niagara Peninsula, in particular the Geosites that NPAGG has identified in the Niagara region.

Team Leaders: Heidi Daxberger, Andreia Hamid We have already released two Urban GeoWalks in Toronto – one on the University of Toronto campus and the other spanning between Union Station and the Royal Ontario Museum. We are continuing to develop more Urban GeoWalks in Toronto, to highlight the geological significance of areas around the city.

Team Leaders: Beth McLarty-Halfkenny, George Dix, Quentin Gall, Geoff Pignotta Our team at Carleton University is presently developing a series of three GeoHikes and one Urban GeoWalk to be released by Fall 2023. GeoHike development is focusing largely on the Rideau Trail.

Team Leaders: Daniel Layton-Matthews Our Queen’s team is developing GeoHikes and Urban GeoWalks in the Kingston area. We anticipate our first release this summer!

We are happy to partner with Mining Matters throughout the year to attend a series of public events. You can find us at Science Rendezvous Kingston in May, the Rockhound Gemboree in Bancroft in August, the OLMC Gem & Mineral Show in Ottawa in September, and the London Gem & Mineral Show in London in November.
